About CanCams

CanCams is an independent, community-run directory of public traffic and weather camera feeds across Canada. Our goal is to make it fast and simple for everyone to check road conditions before heading out. We are not affiliated with any government or transportation agency.

What We Do

• Aggregate publicly available camera endpoints from provincial/municipal providers
• Normalize basic metadata (location, name, provider) for easier browsing
• Offer a map view and a searchable list view
• Let you save favourite cameras locally in your browser

Data Sources

Camera images and metadata come from public bodies across Canada (e.g., provincial ministries of transportation, municipalities, and weather networks). All rights to the original content remain with their respective providers. Source availability and update frequency may vary by provider.

Coverage

Coverage focuses on major highways, bridges, and urban corridors. We continuously add and update cameras as providers publish changes. If you notice outdated links or missing locations, please let us know.

How to Use

1. Open the Map to browse by area, or go to Cameras for a list.
2. Click a camera to view its latest still image (refresh rates depend on the provider).
3. Use the ☆ icon to add to Favourites; favourites are stored only in your browser.

Availability & Uptime

Because feeds are hosted by third-party providers, some cameras may be temporarily unavailable or show stale images during maintenance, outages, or extreme weather. We automatically hide clearly inactive feeds when possible.

Maps & Attributions

We use third-party basemaps (e.g., OpenStreetMap and other mapping services) for location display. Map data © their respective contributors and licensors.

Privacy & Cookies

We collect only limited technical and aggregated usage information necessary for stability and security. Preferences (such as language and favourites) are stored in your browser. For details, see our Privacy Policy.
